Ecosystems: Water: Estuaries and other boundary ecosystems

Estuaries are bodies of water that are somewhat of a mix of oceans and rivers, containing the characteristics of both. They are biodiverse and filled with life.
Lagoons are also important ecosystems that support a variety of life forms such as small clams, barnacles, mullets and others.
Seashores are also biodiverse with many different species of animals such as mussels, clams, amphipods, beach hoppers, bristle worms, crabs and many others.
Swamps, marshes and bogs are also interesting ecosystems that have evolved to eat insects and become carnivorous due to low nutrient levels. When anything dies in these ecosystems, they leave a bit of residue which becomes what we all need and use: Fossil fuels.
Coral atolls are also important boundary ecosystems that support a variety of life forms such as corals, fish and other marine organisms.
Salty marshes are also important ecosystems that support a variety of life forms such as salt-tolerant plants and animals.
In conclusion, boundary ecosystems are diverse and give life to many different species of animals and plants. They help mitigate climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. However, human activities such as pollution from factories and oil spills can have devastating effects on these ecosystems by killing off the plants and animals that live there.
