Theory that Tyrannosaurus is longer than Spinosaurus is wrong - but Tyrannosaurus was heavier than Spinosaurus

Some theories indicate that Tyrannosaurus is longer than Spinosaurus and many people believe that Spinosaurus is heavier than Tyrannosaurus. However, the newest studies have indicated otherwise. According to the latest studies, Spinosaurus was 13.53 meters long and weighed between 8.2-8.8 tons, while Tyrannosaurus was 12.4 meters long and could reach more than 9 tons in weight, with most estimates stating 10.6 tons and up to 11.6 tons.

On April 18th, a composite skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus named TRX-293 TRINITY was sold at auction in Switzerland. It measures 3.9 meters (12.8 feet) high and 11.6 meters (38.1 feet) long and is made up of 293 bones from three different T-Rexes found between 2008 and 2023 in the U.S. states of Montana and Wyoming.

Tyrannosaurus was bulky but short while Spinosaurus was a streamlined animal designed for fishing. Note that new studies have suggested a bipedal animal that may not have been aquatic.

Of course, Sigilmassasaurus has made people believe that Spinosaurus was bigger than the current estimates. But as stated in a previous post on Sigilmassasaurus, the newest studies dating back to 2020 state that Sigilmassasaurus is synonymous with Spinosaurus.

Note that the debate between paleontologists is ongoing and all information is subject to change as more studies and reports are published.
