Dinosaur belly button found in China!

A dinosaur umbilical scar was found on a Chinese non avian dinosaur named Psittacosaurus.

Mammals have a belly button but we now have proof of dinosaurs having one too at birth! Does this mean dinosaurs have no egg? No.  The scar is when the embryo detaches from the membranes before it hatches!

This is an incredible discovery as the rest of it was well preserved! There was also some scale impressions too! Another amazing feature is that scientists could determine the age by comparing it to other Psittacosaurus.

However it is possible that not all dinosaurs or even all Psittacosaurus had a umbilical scar. Why? Because not every bird and reptile maintains the scar through adulthood. Also the reason could be because of an yolk sac infection in birds or crocodiles raised in bad conditions. Now, usually I don't have a credits section but for this one I will.

Credits: Thanks to my grandma! She saw this on news and told me. Thanks to my parents and finally thanks www.educationwebonline.com for the Psittacosaurus photo.
