2016 October National Geographic Magazine Blog

Today I will be doing a 2016 National Geographic magazine entry. Let's begin!

DEADLY TRADE: Rhinos have powerful bodies, spiky horns and heavy feet. Yet, rhinos are hunted and there aren't many of them left as there once was. Why are rhinos disappearing? How to solve this mess?

I will explain.

Poachers are hunting rhinos for their horns. Poachers hunt rhinos so often that rhinos are endangered. What are poachers going for? The feet? The meat? The ears? It is the horn.

Even laws don't stop poachers. Why? Because humans as a whole are reckless, greedy and irresponsible. So, how to stop this mess?

Conclusion: First we need to know why poachers are hacking off rhino horns. The short answer is because of how much rhino horns are worth. Rhino horns are worth a lot of money.

So, how to solve this mess?

Laws could work. But poachers just break the law and hope they can get away with it. Even if the police catch them, the rhino is still wounded. So what can we do? Well there isn't a solution yet, but for now don't buy rhino horns, don't hunt rhinos and help out injured rhinos.

Thanks to National Geographic for the pictures.
